I have been dreading reaching the six month mile stone since Harper was born. That sounds slightly harsh, I know, but I can't believe it. MY BABY IS HALF A YEAR OLD! Am I the only one freaking out!?! Probably...
I'm feeling all the cliche feelings of a parent, specifically a brand new mom. "Where has the time gone?" "It seems like just yesterday I was being handed Harper for the first time!" "I swear there is no way it's already been six months!"
But truly, I can't believe it. Part of me wants to just lie and keep saying she's five months old. The other day in the grocery store line the lady behind me was looking like a fool making faces at Harper and getting her to smile and she popped up behind me and said, "how old is she?" and I of course replied, "She's six months..." La dee da-stomach punch! What?!?!? OMG SHE'S SIX MONTHS...guys..I sincerely hope this post has been dramatic enough for you to understand my feelings towards the fact that my kid...is in fact, six months old.
SO anyway...
Harper as of late:
-Laughs a ton...she thinks everything is hilarious..and her laugh is by far my favorite sound in the World....(sometimes I almost gross myself out with how utterly obsessed I am with her...I'm THAT mom now)
-We learned Harper is part Gremlin this past month. No joke...it's for real. Instead of her normal "talking" she has begun producing the weirdest grunting/groaning/we don't even know what it is type noises and she does it NON STOP!
-She scoots...on her back...she's a strange breed...we know. She likes to inch worm all over on her back...not her front...if we put her on her front she just sits there enjoying her tummy time..doing nothing.
-We have entered the stranger danger phase. She loves to play with people and hang out as long as I'm in the room. As soon as I leave its a full on sob fest. I can't even leave her with Preston to pee for twelve seconds without major water works. It's a treat, but I know one day when she's 13 she will loathe my very presence in her life so I'll take all the baby love I can get while I can get it.
-Harper gives kisses! I know that every mom thinks their baby is the sweetest but I really think Harper takes the cake. Every morning when I get her up and unswaddle her she wraps her arms around my neck and squeezes and then gives me a fat kiss on my cheek. It's the very best! If Preston asks for a kiss it's very rare that she will give him one on demand, however she does like to randomly sneak attack a kiss on him and it's pretty funny. They'll be watching TV together and BAM...time for a huge kiss daddy-o!
-She sits up all on her own now...sometimes she'll occasionally still lean to one side and fall over and get really annoyed but for the most part she's got it down!
-Is getting really good at eating solid foods. She's finally figuring out the spoon. We've figured out she prefers veggies...which is weird..she does like to suck on actual pieces of fruit though she's just not a huge fan of the pureed fruits. I'm thinking of just making my own fruit puree for her because the store ones are actually pretty bland so I don't blame a sister.
-Likes to suck on her pointer and middle finger (as pictured below)...I don't know how I'm going to break that habit in the future
Here are Harper's pictures!
