Hello! Happy five months to our little squish. This month has been a crazy one but it has definitely been a better time than last month. Harper is a much happier baby these days, and this girl has SO much personality..it borders on ridiculous.
We moved this last month! Praise the high heavens I have a washer and dryer now!!! We are just loving our new home and we are super happy that we have a place that we will be staying at until we leave the good state of Utah. I was pretty curious to see how Harper would adjust to a new place but she took it like a champ and didn't skip a beat.
Preston also started another semester of school, luckily this semester is full of history classes so Preston is in heaven....well as close as you can get while still being a slave to professors and homework and classes and whatever...Preston has been doing awesome at work and so he earned the privilege of choosing his work schedule for the next few months and IT IS AWESOME. Last semester Preston would leave at 7 am and not return home until 9:30 pm or later (I know, suck it up....such is life) but this semester is much better and we are loving it. I'm grateful Preston gets off early enough to have dinner with us and hang out a few hours before miss thing goes to bed.
Speaking of bed and Harper...we have begun sleep training. I was super hesitant to put on social media that we were sleep training...I could feel the judgement coming from a far but it has been the best thing-for sure one the hardest things...but the best thing we have done for baby H. The first night was terrible and I cried from pure exhaustion and feeling like I was a terrible mom...but then something amazing happened....Harper started to cry less and less and sleep better and harder than she ever has. My sweet, sweet friend Ashley has offered lots of advice and introduced me to a Wubbanub (its a pacifier stuck to a little animal) and we are just cruising through this sleep process. I finally got more sleep than I have since I was eight months pregnant and I am loving it. I truly know that I am a better mom for Harper getting some sleep and relaxation. Before, I was a mess. I had no energy, I was frustrated and very on edge all the time. I was really hesitant and dreading sleep training for the longest time but now I know it was the best thing for our little family.
Harper is also eating solids each day...well, we attempt it each day. Some days she's loving it and others she wants nothing to do with it. I figured out that she likes to feed herself...she doesn't like me trying to shovel food in her little face. It results in a big mess and probably zero actual food entering her mouth but whatever. She is a pretty picky eater...which annoys me to the core but I just go with it and keep offering different flavors to her. So far she really likes carrots, apples, blueberries and pears. She will NOT take a bottle...which kills me. I attempt to pump so she can go to a baby sitters or so Preston can feed her and she will not take it anymore. She started getting an occasional bottle from the time she was two weeks old but she has decided she's done with that and I have tried everything to get the kid to take it with no success.
She still loves the bath...we have started sitting her up in a bath seat since she outgrew her baby tub and she thinks it the coolest.
She started sitting in the shopping cart and I think there are few things she loves more, It's really fun because we constantly get stopped by people to tell us how cute she is. I literally had a posse of teenage girls follow me through Hobby Lobby so they could see Harper and talk to her.
We got Harper a Jumperoo and that she also loves...she absolutely loves to be standing and now that she can bounce she thinks its pretty great. The first few times we put her in it and she would bounce it scared her :) but now she just jumps her little heart out and its nice because I have about a 20 minute window to get things done before she decides she's done.
She is trying really hard to roll still, she basically does it on accident when she's grabbing her feet so it's interesting. She's not interested in scooting or crawling or rolling really so whatever little babe.
Here are Harper's five month photos. I swear she gets cuter and cuter.,..and if you've ever wondered if I pose her I assure you I do not. It is hilarious watching her pose and ham it up for the camera.
Thanks for reading :)
